Urban Development

This session explores the underlying economic and political processes affecting urban development in the global south. Also it is explored in the session relationship and meanings of the concepts of housing, poverty and the role of participation.

The short film on the right is a great lecture by David Harvey, building on the structuralist position of Castells discussed in the session.

The short film bellow is talking about the wall I mentioned during the class containing the expansion of a favela in Rio de Janeiro.

It would be great to get your views on the videos or check out any further resource you might want to suggest on this.
